settingsMacKenzie Miller brings a rare dual perspective to her defense work: she’s been on both sides of the courtroom. After graduating from Mercer University School of Law in 2021, MacKenzie began her career in federal criminal defense before serving as a prosecutor in Bibb County, where she ultimately focused on violent crimes. That experience sharpened her trial skills and gave her invaluable insight into how cases are built—and how they can come apart. She returned to defense work in 2024 when she joined Hogue Griffin.
Originally from Augusta, MacKenzie earned her bachelor’s degree from Augusta University, majoring in marketing with a minor in nonprofit management. She worked in the nonprofit world for six years before law school, a path that shaped her commitment to fairness, accountability, and real-world impact. In 2023, she completed her LLM in Health Law and Compliance from Cumberland School of Law.
MacKenzie’s practice focuses on criminal defense and civil forfeiture cases, where her prosecutorial background gives clients a strategic edge. She is admitted to the Georgia Bar and to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
MacKenzie was given her own second chance at a young age, and she strongly believes others deserve the same opportunity. She enjoys advocating for individuals seeking retroactive first-offender status, record restrictions, and post-conviction relief.
When she’s not in court, you’ll find her spending time with family, cheering for the Braves, or spoiling her dogs.
